Bebe Populous suggested to her husband Asa that the time was right for them to have another baby. Asa was thrilled. He’d been worried that Bebe might not want any more children so he was happy to oblige.
Asa loved all of Bebe’s children, but he had a special fondness for his own son, Fitzy, and he was loving the experience of teaching the little boy to develop important life skills.
This pregnancy had caused Bebe to do some serious thinking. She could technically live for ever. She could possibly raise as many children as she wanted, could populate the town, several towns, with her descendants for generations to come. But she didn’t want to do it alone. She didn’t want to stay young alone while everyone she loved grew old. So she decided to share the secret of Ambrosia with Asa.
Asa was a little perplexed by the meal his wife put before him. She said she’d been experimenting with a new recipe. It looked very strange to Asa, with its coloured vapours and strange textures. It smelled rather unusual, too. Still, Bebe was a fabulous cook, so he trusted her.
Asa couldn’t believe the taste. It was the most unusual, exquisite, perfect meal he had ever had, and it had an unusual effect on him. He felt his body shifting and changing somehow, mysteriously. He felt younger than he’d felt in a long time. The meal clearly had some curious chemical properties. He was amazed.
But as Bebe and Asa delayed their ageing, the children continued with theirs. It was Brad’s turn to grow up next and he had already got big plans for his future.
He wanted to take his love of gardening and cookery to develop his skills in buying, creating and storing nectar. He was convinced he could be the Valley’s premier nectar collector and distributor and as he moved out of his childhood home, he couldn’t wait to get started.
Cameron became a teenager, and he was very excited that this meant he could now do more around the house. Unlike many children his age, the prospect of babysitting his little brothers was quite exciting – now Annalise and Brad had moved out, he wanted to prove he could live up to being the eldest child at home and take on new responsibilities. He also found himself a job at the supermarket. Bebe cautioned him about taking too much on, but he promised that he would be fine.
Bebe herself used her maternity leave to go to the park and make new friends. It became a little uncomfortable when she bumped into Annalise’s father, Cycl0n3 Sword. Annalise had stayed in regular contact with her father, but Bebe hadn’t spoken to him for some time, though she hadn’t really broken things off with him, just let them drift. They didn’t entirely know what to say to each other. Cycl0n3, rather pointedly, congratulated her on her marriage and subsequent children. Bebe was a little embarrassed and made her excuses to go and talk to other neighbours. She was glad that things weren’t so complicated with Connor or Jared, and at least Xander and she were still friends, seeing their encounter as a ‘happy accident’. She really hoped she wouldn’t bump into Leighton any time soon.
As for Bebe and Xander’s son, Declan, he was having a hard time at school. Now his big brother Cameron had moved up to secondary school, there wasn’t anyone to look out for him and he was feeling pretty lonely. Not many of the other children spoke to him and there were a couple of the older kids who said quite nasty things about his mum. But as Declan looked out across the park and saw his mum chatting so easily with the neighbours, he realised that she wasn’t the bad person the nasty children said she was – she was actually his idol, and the person he most wanted to be like. Everybody liked his mum. Maybe if he was more like her, everyone would like him too. Maybe one day he would be popular. And if the kids at school didn’t want to be his friend, maybe he could find other people in town who would.
The park was fast becoming a favourite haunt for many of the Populous family. Asa was often to be found playing there and it was helping him make friends himself as well as leading him to gain promotions within the theatre. He had always known he was a little strange. Like Declan, school had been hard for him and he’d also had a difficult home life as a child. But Bebe had encouraged him to pursue his dreams and since he’d started playing guitar in the park and working at the theatre, he’d discovered that music made him happy, and what’s more, it seemed to make people like him. Nobody called him names, nobody said he was weird.
A new found youthfulness, a love of music, new friends, a new baby on the way… life was looking good for Asa Populous.
While Asa was in the park, Bebe went into labour. She decided to have the child at home. Declan was ready to meet his little brother or sister, hoping he or she would be a new friend.
Bebe was delighted to hold in her arms a new daughter, Gail. As she hugged Gail to her she whispered to the newborn that daddy would soon be home… and she prayed no-one would ever know that Gail had another daddy out there…

Aha, so Bebe did purposely have sex with Asa right after she got pregnant to convince him it was his baby. Clever Bebe. 😉
Let’s just hope they don’t end up on the Maury Show. 😛
May 14, 2010 at 1:02 am
What’s the Maury Show? Is it like Jerry Springer?
Yes she hopes she’s fooled him. But Asa looks a lot like Leighton so it seems a fairly safe bet. Whether she can keep that charade up for another 19 pregnancies with a whole bunch of different looking dads, you’ll have to see (and so will I!)…

Maury does have some things in common with Jerry Springer–but Maury favors using paternity and lie detector tests to help create the drama.
I love that twist! It’s interesting that Bebe is starting to feel embarrassed about her many associations….but I can’t imagine how awkward it is with so many lovers hanging about!
The second bird leaving the nest! It’s all moving so quickly.

I caked up Brad a little early. He wasn’t really serving any purpose other than general housework and baby care, and Cameron can do all that now for a bit. Poor Brad, he’s probably the most ignored child so far. But you should see the house the game put him in! I’ll try and get a shot. He’s been well compensated for having the somewhat rough end of the stick.

I really loved the way Bebe finally found a man she could live with, and Asa’s got the live forever as he is thing. Beautiful shots! Wishing all the best for Bebe.

Well, it’s going to get trickier from here on in as her kids start to get older than she is and as she has to think of more elaborate reasons to be having all these babies. But I’m sure she’ll work it out!

Bebe is a slightly disturbed woma, but hse has got her heart in the right place. I love the scene where she feeds Asa ambrosia. I think that she should have told him about her plans and dreams. Now she has to cheat on him in more way that one. Then again, you probably decedid to go for the otional Lovva Man as well. So I don’t want to say too much…
Brilliant, Rad!I am so enjoying the story and so looking forward to what happens next. *hug*

Not disturbed, more obsessed. She kind of has her heart in the right place, but not exactly. After all, eating lots of ambrosia and life fruit isn’t exactly rational behaviour…
Whether she can hold up this pretence much longer will have to be seen. Can she pull off another 19 pregnancies, especially i f the dads don’t look anything like Asa?
May 14, 2010 at 5:26 am
Well this one may slide, but I hope Asa doesn’t confront her about any of ‘their’ future children. Great job rationalizing the Ambrosia for Asa. Also: yay another girl!
May 14, 2010 at 9:41 am
Well, yes, if she’s going to be mating with ghosts and the like this may not wash. You’ll have to wait and see how she copes!
I was relieved to have another girl, I was worried the game was getting a bit screwy.

Hi, I’m miaomiaochan from Boolprop. I’ve been a lurker this whole time, but something in this update provoked a thought in me that I had to share.
I just wanted to comment on Bebe’s thought process prior to sharing the Ambrosia with Asa. Wouldn’t “everyone she loved” include her children, future grandchildren, etc.? If she feeds Ambrosia to only herself and Asa (assuming it’s only for a long enough time to give birth however many more times she needs), won’t her children grow old and possibly even die before she is done with her “task”? If she truly intends to live forever, far beyond the scope of her task, won’t she have to see her descendants grow old and die?
May 14, 2010 at 9:40 am
Yes, she will. How she copes with that, well we’ll have to see.
Nice to see you here!
May 14, 2010 at 5:36 pm
You know I’m completely weird and to support that statement I am fed up and bored with Asa. He’s just so bland, and where’s his man-nes?
May 14, 2010 at 8:57 pm
Probably my fault. I haven’t been that bothered with him lately, just getting him plugging away at work and guitaring. I do have plans for him but haven’t been able to do an awful lot about them yet.

I love the last line of this chapter, seems to hint at the potential conflict that may possibly happen in the future…
May 16, 2010 at 9:21 pm
Conflict? In a WYD? How could that possibly happen?!
Actually, part of the challenge is keeping the husband sweet so that’ll be interesting. Nothing about keeping the kids sweet, though, ‘cept the kids of the sim who is a husband and the sim who is a father.
May 15, 2010 at 3:42 pm
Yay, a girl!
Bye, Brad! Hope the timestream is nice to you!
Interesting scene with Bebe feeding Asa the ambrosia. I wonder what gave her the trust issues she must have, to not tell him the whole story of the dish? It seems like it would be polite to mention, “By the way, hon, tonight’s dinner will roll you back a decade or two.” 🙂
May 16, 2010 at 9:22 pm
Well, he’s inappropriate and insane so there’s the chance he could blurt it out at random. She’ll have to reveal the truth eventually though…
